They were the first game of the day to play Sage Hill and they definitely began the game with a great and encouraging start.

The first quarter of the game began smoothly as the girls were making basket after basket, overpowering Sage Hill’s girls. The Patriots were aggressive and full of energy, eager to keep their score high. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 11-0. The second quarter began with yet another basket by junior, Gurpreet Kaur. The girls were definitely showing signs of improvement and they were eager to show it off. Sophomore Jenny Lee stole the ball and attempted to make a shot and it bounced off the backboard, but fortunately the Lady Patriots were still far in the lead. Following the attempt, Gurpreet Kaur, Feby Boediarto, and Judy Kim each made a basket, making the score 19-0. After nineteen points on the Patriots side, Sage Hill made a two-pointer, still far behind. Sophomore Michelle Ngo showed her defensive skills by blocking Sage Hill from making a basket. The Lady Patriots had been working on their free throws lately and it sure was noticeable. Their accuracy proved to be effective, and continued to stack up points on their side. The Lady Patriots also proved that they had been working on their free throws, because their free throws were accurate and only stacked up on the points on their side. The ladies had good communication and their teamwork helped them have such a high scoring lead. Sophomore Phoebe Kim demonstrated a good rebound right as the second quarter ended. At halftime, the score was 21-6, the Lady Patriots far in the lead.

The halftime break seemed to provide the Lady Patriots with even more energy. They started the third quarter off with aggression and their level of energy was very high. Freshman Aimee Morita received a free throw and added another point to Oxford’s scoreboard. During the game, the team was constantly moving, stealing the ball whenever possible. They were still showing signs of great teamwork. They were far in the lead at the end of the third quarter with the score at 30-10. The fourth quarter began with a back and forth possession between both teams. Boediarto scored four baskets within a couple of minutes. Sage Hill then made a free throw and a basket, but they were not able to catch up to Oxford. The Lady Patriots knew that they were far in the lead, but they still continued to work hard. With thirty seconds left, the score was 40- 14 and at the last second Sophomore Annah Ramones scored a three pointer. The game ended with a high scoring Oxford victory with the score at 43-14.
