The Patriots were put to the test against their league rival Tartans today, but pulled out a close one 7-5. Cameron Bedard threw a complete game allowing five runs, three of them earned along with striking out eight batters. After going down 2-0 the Patriots were shut down until by St. Margaret's pitcher David Mothander until the fifth inning when Oxford put a four run rally together to take the lead 5-3. In the sixth, Oxford added another two runs for insurance purposes going in to the seventh inning. Bedard retired the first two batters of the inning before a hit batsman was put on first with two outs. The Tartans were able to string a couple of hits to tally two more runs, but was not enough as the Patriots held on 7-5 for the victory. Senior Cameron Bedard and Sophomores Harvey Higger and Steve Criss had multi hit games along with RBI from Daniel Lucak, Cameron Bedard, Pat Zajac, and Steve Criss. Three other Patriots had hits in the win as the Patriots improve to 3-0 in the Academy League and 8-2 overall. Oxford Academy returns to play on Tuesday, March 31 at 3:15 PM at home versus rival Brethren Christian Warriors. |
