"With GameDay, I am free to do as I wish. I have a flexibility, which other clubs do not offer."

Kasra Jafroodi, Director of Video

What appealed to you the most about GameDay, that made you want to join?

I joined GameDay for its freedom of creativity. Other clubs would assign videos and tell me what to do, but with GameDay, I am free to do as I wish. I have a flexibility, which other clubs do not offer.

So, what exactly do you do?

As my title states, I am the video director of GameDay. I basically create all the videos. My job starts in a meeting when I am told to make a video for a sport. I am given about a month to create the commercial. I spend the next week brainstorming ideas. This step can be done anywhere, and for me, it is mostly done in boring classes. I then have to film the video, if it requires any filming and then editing. I usually edit the entire video in one day, unless it requires more, and each one can range from 2-7 hours to edit. The commercial then airs on the announcements.

What does it take to get where you are now?

It takes a lot of commitment. I’ve worked hours and hours on commercials and have sacrificed sleep at times to finish. It also takes a lot of training to learn the editing programs to create the commercials. It is difficult, but nothing someone else cannot learn.

What are the best & worst parts about your job?

The worst part about my job is deadlines and having to complete a video by the required time. The best part about the job is the many compliments I get every day on the commercials that air in front of the entire school.

Any last words or commentary you have say about GameDay?

GameDay is the most fun organization on campus. It is not the extremely serious and business like as people think it is. We have a lot of fun at meetings and it is a great experience.
