Christine Carroll, Director of Art What appealed to you the most about GameDay, that made you want to join? When I first joined GameDay, I joined because I wanted to take pictures. GameDay had opened up a spot where students would be able to take pictures at games. And I LOVE taking pictures, so I thought this job would be fun. I took up the job in sophomore year, but I moved on to publicizing because GameDay needed help in that area. I didn’t mind because I love make flyers too. I like designing and using the computer even though I’m not that great at it. So, what exactly do you do? As Art Director, I tell people what games flyers have to be made for and when to get them done by. And I also make flyers when there is lack of help. What does it take to get where you are now? At first, I was the underdog. I worked under someone and made flyers whenever it was needed. However, after becoming experienced and losing our seniors, I bumped up. It took a lot of time making flyers before, so it is a privilege to be able to tell some people what to do. In this position, you have to be responsible and attend the GameDay meetings regularly to get updated about which games GameDay would be publicizing for. You have to make sure the people making the flyers get them done on time or else students will not be able to see the publicity for the games around campus. What are the best & worst parts about your job? The best part of my job is I’m on the exec. board. I get to know all the information before others. Hehe. Also, I do not have to make as many flyers as I had to before. I get to tell people what they can do. The worse part of my job is to make sure my people get it done on time or else I have to chase them down. However, this hasn’t really been a problem, so that’s good. And if things do not go right, I must do it on my own. Any last words or commentary you have say about GameDay? GameDay is a great club to join if you really want to be involved with school. Since GameDay publicizes for our school’s games, you are involving yourself with the school’s sports activities. Also, if you’re someone with a lot of time on your hands, it is always fun to be creative with making flyers, taking pictures or making videos. |
