Senior on the Boys Varsity Soccer team Andrew Wun conveys his thoughts towards his team and for Homecoming.
1. Can you please explain the position you play and let us know how many years you have played for Oxford? I play center defender with JB, and our job is to make sure no one scores on us or else we hurt them. I have been playing all 4 years of high school.2. How do you personally feel about going into the Homecoming game this Friday? Your personal goals? I am pumped to be playing Whitney this Friday. This game is important in deciding the team’s CIF contention, and we cannot allow our rivals to beat us on our own home field. Personally, I want to make sure we get no goals against as well as knock down a lot of players.3. How does your team feel about going into the Homecoming game this Friday? Team goals? Friday is when we really need to step up because our team is good enough to be one of the top ones in league, but only when we are at 100%. Our plan is simple: stop them from attacking and make sure they cannot stop our attack.4. Will the Homecoming game be any different than any other league game? As I know many people who go to Whitney, I have some personal hatred against them. I want to completely destroy them.5. As a senior, what do you want the team to accomplish before you graduate? Since this is my last year playing for Oxford, I have high expectations for the team. I know we are good enough to compete with other schools so on minimum I want to qualify for CIF.6. How has your experience playing for Oxford changed over the years? Every year I have become more determined to represent Oxford soccer, and especially this year I want to give my all to the team and leave my mark.7. What is the one major difference between playing Junior Varsity and Varsity soccer? Varsity is much more physical as the players are more motivated. To compete you need to always give your all and do whatever it takes to win the ball, even if it means taking a hit.8. What new styles of play or strategies has your team employed this year? This year we are working on improving our possession by involving the defense and even the goalie more. We swing the ball more and also play it back when pressured or just to reset.9. What is your favorite aspect of soccer? When played correctly, soccer is the most graceful sport. But it is also very physical so if I get angry, I can knock people down or slide-tackle them.10. How close are the guys on the team and what is your bond like with the rest of them? Our team is like a second family where we can all joke and make fun of each other while still looking out and helping each other to play our best. |
