Hoping to get their first win for league, the JV Boys Volleyball team played their game and successfully won, hoping to win their next game against Capistrano Valley Christian. Going into season with a pre-season record of 7-1, the JV boys forgot the past games and focused on their current situation. Despite previously losing to Cypress as their last pre-season game, JV boys knew they had to step up their game in order to do well in league. In the first game, the boys took a quick head start with an extra point advantage due to Sage's slow line up submission. With a couple of serves and aces by Michael Yi, Oxford put itself to 0-4, a good start. After Sage started getting their game together, Oxford quickly got a side out with a nice kill. Despite 7 service errors and 4 spike errors, JV boys were able to pull off the game with 15-25 as they won their first game. In the second game, Sage quickly took the lead 3-0 as Oxford slowly got their surroundings together. After Sage netted, Oxford slowly climbed back, 1 point at a time. This game seemed to be one of the roughest for the boys, as they continously made errors by forgetting to call the ball and several bad passes. Soon, the score was 22-21 as with Oxford only one point behind. Freshman Daniel Lee brought up the team with aces, leading Oxford 22-23. Unfortunately, Sage got a side out, bringing the score to 23-23. The tension was on. Oxford, not wanting to go into a thrid game, knew they had to focus and bring their hardest these last two points to win the game. Luckily, Sage had a service error, overpowering the ball. 23-24. Oxford quickly served the ball over for a long rally. Captain Andrew Wun delivers a spike that the opposing team cannot return. As the boys make their kill cheer, they shake hands with Sage, happy on their first win of the season. With at least 19 errors made during the second game, the team revisits their main goal of focusing during the game. With their next game at home against Capistrano Valley Christian, the JV team looks forward to a promising season with many wins. |
